Last week Zach and I went to Aruba on our Honeymoon. It was my first trip to the Caribbean and also my first vacation where I stayed in the same hotel/town for the entire week. Which means I am accustomed to exhausting travel. It took me about a day to come to grips with the idea of relaxing. I need to adjust my thinking.
Aruba is beautiful with white sandy beaches and aquamarine waters. The average temperature was 88F with what they call a “breeze” and I call a wind. The trade winds are magnificent at cooling the temperature so that one rarely ever feels hot. Aruba is situated in a perfect position because it rarely is threatened by hurricanes. It rained almost every afternoon for about 5-10 minutes. Perfect!
Eating gluten free was not hard here! This was my first international travel eating gluten free so I was a bit concerned. It would have been cheaper if I could have eaten sandwiches but I did fine and never got sick. Woohoo!!!
What was hard was finding produce. I was not able to eat every three hours like I am used to. We ate on average 2-3 meals a day. Thank goodness for the nuts I brought from home! They were the perfect go to snack if we knew we weren’t going to eat in the next five minutes.
Before we left I also mentioned I was worried about getting sun burned. My shoulders got a little red the first day but overall I managed to mostly freckle. My rashguards were life savers and Zach even bought one while we were there 🙂
We had a great time and I confess I am a bit sorry to be back 🙂
