I’m a diehard cycling fan and was raised to be such. My dad raced in his youth and like most kids we thought dad’s hobbies and loves were the bees knees. So we loved cycling. It also helped that he took us out of school to spectate at races.
This past July was just like every other, I was glued to the TV watching The Tour de France. Except this time my mini-me was with me every step of the way. Don’t worry, he wasn’t watching. he blissfully napped during the stages, Upon reflection maybe that’s why this week’s naps were all crap. He wasn’t napping to race commentary!
My family came over for the final stage and to meet Baby G. It was the best. My dad and step-mom brought croissants and fruit and I supplied the rest. Set up took me about 30 minutes and I had a blast, alone time is like that these days. It goes by in the blink of an eye and is awesome.
How do you host guests who can and cannot eat gluten? I set up two separate trays with the exact same ingredients but one was labeled Gluten Free and the other Gluten. I threw out the gluten jams and preserves after everyone left since I didn’t want to accidentally get sick.
Overall it was great and super quick! I made the blackberry jam from the 10 pounds (!) we picked at the orchard last week. Baby G is blackberry obsessed, his little face gets smeared with juice and he keeps asking for more. Adorable.
- 3 cups blackberries
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 2 TBS chia seeds
- 1 TBS Maple Syrup
- Mix all the ingredients in a saucepan and bring to boil.
- Stir until thickened about 15 minutes.
