Neither Zach nor I had been to Toronto and I was super excited to see all the restaurant options. Some of my favorite food blogs are Canadian (Eat, Spin, Run, Repeat and OhSheGlows)and I swear they appear to have some AMAZING food options for different dietary needs.
GF Hamburger Bun!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was awesome and did not fall apart!
We flew Porter Airlines, and normally I would not bother mentioning an airline, this airline is GREAT. Why?
- no first class
- the plane only 2 seats in each row
- ample LEG room, we are tall people
- FREE WINE/BEER
- FREE SNACKS
- Lounge at some airports with comfy chairs
- FREE FOOD AND DRINK IN LOUNGE
- Comfortably sit in the lounge before going to the gate
We had a blast with our friends. We arrived late Friday night but went on a walk on the boardwalk by the beach. Lake Ontario is VAST and I really loved the boardwalk. Volleyball nets set up on the beach for people to play and lots of areas for dogs.
Saturday we went to Casa Loma, the former residence of financier Sir Henry Mill Pellet. The house has been in several films including X-Men and Scott Pilgrim!
The house is beautiful and ornate, with secret passages, tunnels, gardens, and towers. The views from the house are spectacular too. You can see the CN Tower!
Afterwards we went to Tommy Thompson park which is a peninsula on Lake Ontario. With walking and cycling paths this park stole my breath away with its impossible beauty.
After all that walking we were famished and headed out for Mexican and gelato. A winning combination 😉
Restaurants seem to be more aware of dietary concerns than in the USA. I was not at a loss for finding something to eat. And that Hollywood Gelato, best gelato in Toronto, deserves its title. I have not stopped thinking about the hazelnut gelato since Saturday night. It was SO good!
Next post: CN tower and more!
