First trimester thoughts: This was so rough. I had no idea. None. Of course I had heard about morning sickness but I was not prepared for the serious food aversions I experienced.
Each day was a new struggle in finding something appetizing to eat. What tasted good one day was likely going to be repulsive the next. That sandwich I just ordered that sounded sooooo good? Repulsive. What kind of animal puts bacon on a sandwich?….. Yeah its been hard. Which would explain the dramatic decrease in posts here. I’m so sorry. I wanted to post foods but meat and vegetables have been real turn offs. I doubt the hundreds of PBJs and mashed potatoes I ate would have been that innovative.
- Thankfully I only experienced morning sickness for a few days. I learned about magnesium deficiencies and lo and behold found a magnesium spray in my medicine cabinet, problem solved.
- Crazy sore boobs
- Exhaustion, why yes I did take a nap every day after breakfast and sometimes dinner.
- Sense of smell was out of control. I could not even stand the way I smell which prompted me to buy a new deodorant.
- Heartburn! You motherfucker. (I really enjoyed this trimester, can’t you tell?!?!) I did by accident figure out that grazing constantly throughout the day seemed to keep this at bay. Also eating the most bland foods known to man.
Due to the incredible meat aversion I was struggling to get a decent amount of protein in my diet. Eventually I ordered a variety pack of Quest Bars which have been life savers. I felt guilty for about a minute when I first ate a Quest Bar. I wanted to fuel myself with all natural goodness during this pregnancy but that went the wayside after the food aversions took over. Oh yeah and Heeeeeeyyyyy Peach Flavored water (which I’m sure is filled with nothing natural) you were my bestest friend for a few weeks.
Some readers may recall that I have a mild heart condition (SVT) which I was able to treat with salt and potassium. I saw my cardiologist who decided to put a hold on the potassium pills and substitute avocado and spinach. Still getting potassium but she said the pills can often cause heartburn.
I’m thrilled to start feeling like myself again. I have been able to pick up exercise after a few weeks of doing very little. This makes me feel wonderfully happy.
Thanks for letting me share our news, we are incredibly excited to welcome this baby into our lives.
