Anytime I go to Georgetown I am stunned by its beauty. I always think “I need to come here more often!” The red brick sidewalks and 18th-century buildings are stunning. This past weekend Georgetown hosted a French Market which my girlfriends and I decided was a great excuse to visit.Sadly none of the booths were selling gluten free pastries but I did eat my fill of tacos. Utterly missing the theme of the day they were spectacular.
Jaco Juice and Taco Bar was the first stop where I got the Baco Taco a vegetarian taco with avocado, sweet onion, tomato, sweet corn, cotija cheese, tomatillo salsa and roasted poblano crema. It was so freaking delicious I’m glad I don’t live closer because I’d be there far too frequently. Specify if you want a gluten free tortilla, they will happily oblige.
The second stop was actually my primary objective: Chaia Taco which I had read about as being one of the best places to eat in DC. Yeah, it really is. Specializing in a “farm to taco” concept all the food is gluten free and vegetarian, vegan on request. I had the Butternut Squash with caramelized onion, ricotta salata, chipotle yogurt. Gahhhhhh it was insanely delicious! Maybe once a month treat??? Those flavors combined were outstanding.
I went home with a happy tummy and am excited to return. Where have you gone to eat in Georgetown? Favorite Gluten Free foods there?
