Have you been to Native Foods Café? They are a vegan restaurant chain with gluten free options and have a few locations around the country. One opened up near my friend’s house and we got to try it the other day. I was especially excited for the lavender lemonade. The restaurant is a casual dining experience and uses tofu, seitan, and tempeh in their dishes.
We each tried different dishes, I got the Bangkok Curry bowl which was delicious. This dish totally fit my “eat more vegetables and try to be healthier” goal. Loads of veggies with brown rice, grilled tofu, and a yummy ginger coconut curry sauce. The dish was light but I was full for hours later. A huge achievement!
Like I said, this is primarily a vegan restaurant but there are a handful of gluten free dishes. The salads, tacos, and bowls all have gluten free options. There is even a gluten free dessert, Peanut Butter Parfait! I really wanted it but was full from all that lemonade and veggie bowl. Another reason to return!
When one is trying to eat clean while out and about this is a good option. I’m thrilled to have this option available to us, it doesn’t seem like there are enough restaurants in my area that serve light, fresh, healthier meals. I felt great all day after eating here which I have to say isn’t always the case after we eat out. This is likely due to me choosing heavier options….fries.
