Because we’re silly we went strawberry picking yesterday. This is silly because this has been one of the best if not the best years for our backyard strawberries. Most years we get enough for the two of us to share at breakfast but lately we’ve had leftovers (!). We had a splendid time with friends and that’s really the best part right? On our way out we ran into a former student of mine which was such a fun surprise. Teaching someone for almost 10 years one really feels part of the family. When the kids quit it feels wonderful to run into them again, albeit shocking when one sees how much they’ve grown.
Later in the day we went to the high school graduation party of another student and were so honored to be a part of the celebration. These kids really mean a lot to me and I love getting to watch them grow up from adorable kids into really cool people.
For the past couple of years I’ve scrambled to come up with new exciting ways to use up our strawberries but this year I made a few oldies. Remaking food is a rarity here because, well I always am creating new things for y’all! Hehe. Baking in the quiet of a Sunday afternoon was blissful. Chopping strawberries in the cool dark kitchen while everyone (cats and husband) dozed was peaceful. Its ok, I passed out after the party and someone had to clean up. Team work!
What all did I remake?
